Berrien Springs student allegedly threatened school violence

The Berrien Springs Oronoko Township Police Department is investigating an alleged threat of school violence.

According to police, a parent called administrators with Berrien Springs Public Schools because the parent was concerned about a high school student who had allegedly threatened to bring a gun to school.

Administrators contacted the Berrien Springs Oronoko Township Police Department to investigate.

Police and school officials identified the student who allegedly made the threatening statements, according to police.

The student was suspended indefinitely from school, according to police.

Police and school officials say they are confident a weapon was not taken to the school and students and staff were not in danger.

The student will be petitioned to Berrien County Juvenile Court on charges.

The student's name will be released after arraignment.
