BENTON HARBOR, Mich – The Benton Harbor Area Schools School Board and Interim Superintendent held a board retreat meeting addressing issues they aim to fix in the district.
“It was just to inform the board about where we are as a district with all of our departments making sure they are informed and that they are able to inform the community that within the departments of the district everyone is moving forward with the 2019-2020 school year plans,” Benton Harbor Area Schools Interim Superintendent Patricia Robinson said.
Robinson presented a district reconfiguration plan to the board aimed at creating groups of specific areas to focus on and action plans of how to achieve those goals.
The school board is negotiating with the state of Michigan to create a viable plan that both parties agree to, to solve the district’s financial and academic problems.
The school board along with Interim Superintendent Patricia Robinson will host a “Parent forum” where they plan to present action items spoken about at Saturday’s meeting along with answering questions and concerns parents in the school district have.
