Bicyclist hit by motorist Sunday evening in Niles

NILES, Mich. – An 18-year-old was hit on his bicycle wile crossing 11th Street at Bell Road in Niles Sunday evening.

Niles Police say the bicyclist, Justin Copper, was traveling west on Bell Road when he crossed 11th Street and was struck by a vehicle driven by 54-year-old Judy Vallieres.

Vallieres, who witnesses said had the right of way, tried to stop her vehicle to avoid hitting Copper.

According to Police, Copper was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
