Big changes coming for drivers of mopeds and scooters

Big changes are coming in the state of Indiana if you use a moped or a scooter to get around town.

Starting on January 1, 2015, all drivers of these vehicles in Indiana will be required to register and plate their vehicles.

There will also be new laws concerning ID cards and insurance coverage.

There will be different license plates for Class-A and Class-B vehicles.

Class-B vehicles are scooters or mopeds with a 55cc engine or smaller.

While these laws do go into place on January 1, Indiana State Police say that they will not start issuing tickets for unregistered scooters and mopeds for the first month.

If you are unsure of what you need in order to get your vehicle registered, check with your local BMV branch.
