Big turnout for bed giveaway in downtown South Bend

There was a big turnout for free beds at the Chase Tower Saturday morning.

Amid some of the ongoing construction happening at the Chase Tower in downtown South Bend, a demolition contractor got rid of beds from the building’s old hotel.

The give-away began at 9:00 a.m. and a source tells us that all of the beds were gone in the first 20 minutes.

A few South Bend Police officers were at the give-away to lend a helping hand.
