Redman wins re-election as St. Joseph County Sheriff

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - Incumbent Bill Redman has been re-elected sheriff of St. Joseph County.

The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s department is responsible for routine police functions, serving civil warrants, staffing of the county jail, and protection of the three county courthouses. The sheriff is responsible for the entire operation of the St Joseph County Police Department.

Bill Redman (D)

  • Incumbent and current Saint Joseph County Sheriff
  • Strives to tackle a violent society by community involvement and new, upgraded equipment for officers
  • Focused on working on prevention, treatment, and enforcement of drug use/ drug-related crimes by partnering with local organizations that help with substance abuse
  • Oversees a diversified police department
  • Aims to reduce the number of people housed at the Saint Joseph County jail through mental health clinic and Jail Chemical Addiction Program
  • Works daily with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners to combat crime in Saint Joseph County
  • Wants to continue being a proactive and visible Sheriff

Kevin McGowan (R)

  • Has experience working in the Saint Joseph County Jail and as a Civilian officer and Special Deputy
  • Aims to be a ‘full-time Sheriff’ and working alongside officers daily
  • Wants to restore the sense of brotherhood in the police department and enforce positive policing
