SOUTH BEND, Ind.—The Board of Commissioners voted on Tuesday against renewing the contract for the South Bend Housing Authority’s Executive Director, according to a Housing Authority official.
The board voted unanimously to terminate Tonya Robinson’s employment at the end of her current contract, which will expire on September 28, 2019.
Robinson was suspended on September 17 with pay while the board reviewed her performance and conduct as Executive Director.
In July, three separate properties were raided by FBI officials in connection with an investigation into the South Bend Housing Authority.
Virginia Calvin, the President of the Board of Commissioners, released the following statement:
“Affordable housing is critical to the South Bend community, and this unanimous decision by the Board is intended to ensure that the Housing Authority is fulfilling its mission and living up to the high standards we have set for it.”
