Body found on Lake Michigan beach identified

PORTER COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has released the identity of the man whose body was found on West Beach Friday morning

The body has been identified as the boater who disappeared near Marquette Park Beach on August 11.

The family requested his identity not be released.

The coroner's office says the preliminary cause of death is related to injuries consistent with being struck by watercraft.

Toxicology test results are pending.

The man's death is being investigated as a boating accident. It is believed he was the only occupant of the boat at the time and was struck by his own boat after falling overboard for an unknown reason.
