The Indiana Department of Natural Resources located Eckman's body in the Tippecanoe River Friday night at approximately 9:20 p.m.
Eckman was last seen Wednesday, June 17th around 2:00 a.m. near West Olson Road in Leiters Ford, Indiana.
Officials say he was visiting his girlfriend's relatives the night of his disappearance.
Officers began searching for Eckman after receiving information that he had possibly fallen into the river. Criminal activity is not suspected.
To help in the search for Eckman's whereabouts, Conservation officers utilized boats and sonar.
“The work performed by the conservation officers is to be commended,” stated First Sergeant Bob Burgess, district investigative commander for the ISP Peru Post. “They risked their own safety by working in the swift currents and the high water of the river to bring a resolution to this tragic case.”
Officers from the Fulton County Sheriff's Department also assisted with this investigation.
