Body of missing South Bend man pulled from St. Joseph River

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind., --- The body of a missing South Bend Man was pulled from the St. Joseph River on Friday.

Officials say boaters near Lilac Road found what appeared to be a body caught in fallen tree branches in the river.

The body was taken Sunday morning to Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo for an autopsy, where it was identified as 47-year-old Anthony Banks of South Bend.

Banks had been reported missing and was last seen in South Bend on March 4.

His family has since been notified.

At this time, officials say they are still investigating the manner of death.
