Body recovered from Yellow River in Knox

STARKE COUNTY, Ind. – The body of a Knox man was recovered from the Yellow River Wednesday afternoon, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources reported.

At 9:15 a.m., witnesses saw a man jumping off a railroad bridge into the water near S.R. 35, reports said.

The victim did not resurface. Multiple agencies responded to the scene and began a search.

At 12 p.m., Indiana Conservation Officer Public Safety Divers recovered the victim in 19 feet of water, reports said.

This investigation is ongoing.

Indiana Conservation Officers were assisted by the Knox City Police Department, Starke County Sheriff’s Department, Knox Fire Department, Bass Lake Fire Department, North Judson Fire Department, Starke County EMS, and the Starke County Coroner’s Office.
