Bones remain a mystery in Michigan

A skeleton found in an unmarked grave in mid-Michigan has historians puzzled.

A cemetery worker found the skeleton 3-years ago and local historians have been trying to identify the mystery man.

They believe he was buried at least 100 years ago, the man's age was between 33 and 55 years old when he died, and marks on his teeth indicate he may have smoked a pipe.

"The person may have been someone of heavy labor, constant labor. So we looked at that person as being a blacksmith," said Plainfield Township Historical Commission worker Jerry Hewitt.

"There are a couple of families in town that have that kind of facial structure," said Plainfield township historical supervisor Fred Lewis.

Officials are hoping someone may recognize a digital model that they have been able to create. Hundreds of names are being researched.
