Bostic gets total of 105 years for 2023 murder

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- D’Drea Bostic was sentenced in St. Joseph County Court today for the Jan. 2, 2023 murder of 46-year-old Rachel Havrick, of South Bend. 

According to the prosecutor's office, Bostic pled guilty to felony Murder, Attempted Robbery, a level 5 felony, with a Firearm Enhancement, and a Habitual Offender Enhancement.

As part of the plea agreement, St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office agreed to dismiss counts of Felony Murder and Burglary.

Authorities say the sentencing range for murder is between 45 to 65 years and the sentencing range for a level 5 felony is one to six years.

"In addition, the sentenced could be enhanced for the use of a Firearm up to an additional 20 years," said Director of Media Relations for the prosecuting attorney Brandi Miller. "The sentence could also be enhanced for up to 20 years because he was a Habitual Offender."

Bostic was sentenced for:

  • Count I: Murder, 65 years
  • Count V: Attempted Robbery, six years
  • Counts I and V were ordered to run concurrently (at the same time)
  • Firearm Enhancement: 20 years
  • Habitual Offender: 20 years

In total, Bostic was sentenced to 105 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections.
