Bowling fundraiser held for the family of Amy Mitchell

Many people gathered together for a special day of bowling in Niles.

Dozens of people showed up Sunday afternoon to help the family of Amy Mitchell, who was hit and killed in an accident earlier this month, leaving behind a husband and two young children.

The fundraising event was held at Joey Armadillo's on 11th Street and it included prizes such as Notre Dame women's basketball tickets.

Edward Mitchell, Amy's brother-in-law, said that it is very important that her family receives some financial help in this time of need.

"I wanted to try and make it as easy on him as possible. It's already bad enough that he had to deal with the loss of his wife, and having to try and raise the girls by himself now," said Edward.

If you would like to donate to the Mitchell family during this difficult time, you can do so at any Old National Bank, where there is a memorial fund set up in the family's name.
