SOUTH BEND, Ind.—Over 6,000 pounds of pills were collected during the DEA Drug Take Back Day event held in South Bend over the weekend, the South Bend Police Department said in a tweet.

Did you miss the event and still need to clean out your medicine cabinet? The South Bend Police Department has a prescription drug drop in their lobby.

Anyone looking to utilize the service is asked to dump unwanted or expired medication into a plastic bag and drop it into the box.

The police department does not accept liquids, lotions or ointments in the drop box.

Lobby hours at the police department are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
