Buchanan landmark scheduled for demolition

BUCHANAN, Mich. – A Buchanan landmark will soon be coming down!  Next week, the city plans to start tearing down some of the old Buchanan Industries buildings.

The owner hopes to attract new manufacturers to the site, and that means more jobs!

Some are sad to see the buildings go.  City officials say the buildings are a reminder of better days, when Clark Equipment was still in business.

"I would say sort of bittersweet for the town, because Clark Equipment, this was their world headquarters and the town really grew and expanded when Clark was here.  But, on the other hand, they have been gone since the 80's, and it's time for us to move on,” said Debra Patzer with the Downtown Development Authority.

The city is just waiting to approve a demolition plan.
