Buchanan veteran hosting Veteran's Day dinner
This Veterans Day, a Buchanan man, who is a veteran himself, is making sure members of the community there who serve the city, are not forgotten.
93-year-old Robert Barnes isn’t doing this for attention or publicity.
He just wants members of his community to know their work has not gone unnoticed
“It’s a wonderful gesture of kindness, that’s just Bob Barnes he’s a wonderful guy, he’s a very caring guy and he wants to give back, he wants to give back to the people that serve him every day,” said Tim Ganus, Buchanan Police Department Deputy Chief of Police.
This Friday, the former Air Force member and Auxiliary Police Officer will serve once again but this time, at Hilltop Café in Buchanan.
“Whether it be fire, police, public works, cleaning the streets and the leaves, they all work hard.”
The meals will be served from 630 in the morning until 730 at night.
“I issued tickets, I sent them all made them all up a card and a ticket and they have to bring the ticket to the restaurant to signify that they are a city employee,” said Barnes.
