Buttigieg campaign raises $1 million in hours following official announcement

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg's 2020 presidential campaign raised $1 million since officially joining the race Sunday afternoon.

Campaign spokesperson, Lis Smith tweeted Sunday evening, "Some news: since delivering his announcement speech, our grassroots supporters have invested more than $1m in @PeteButtigieg’s campaign."

Buttigieg officially announced his run for president just two hours earlier in front of a crowd of 4,500 people inside the old Studebaker manufacturing plant in South Bend.

The Pete for America Exploratory Committee announced earlier this month, it raised $7 million dollars in the first quarter of 2019.
