California Bridge fire creates traffic catastrophe

CALIFORNIA -- Crews continue to extinguish a bridge fire in California.

The flames created a traffic catastrophe for hundreds of thousands of drivers there.

The fire was sparked by a construction worker's blowtorch and then spread quickly by gusty winds.

It still remains a dangerous scene even as crews rush to relieve that traffic headache.

"How important it is for commerce and the people who are traveling through many parts of our country. So I assure you we are working and doing everything possible to open this freeway," said Captain Oscar Medellin.

If all goes as planned, officials say interstate 15 will be flowing freely in both directions Wednesday.
