California wildfire forces evacuations

MARIPOSA, Calif. — More than 700 firefighters are working put out a wildfire in Mariposa County in Northern California.

The fire forced 150 homeowners from their homes.

Nearly 900 acres have burned in a wildfire that broke out Sunday. Fire officials say that the fire is about 15 percent contained.

High winds, low humidity and the tough landscape are making it difficult for crews to subdue the fire.

A Red Cross Evacuation Center has been set up in the area.
