Canadian couple gives birth to million-dollar baby

A dream vacation for a Canadian couple turned into a nightmare after a mom-to-be gave birth prematurely during their Hawaiian vacation.

Before she went on the trip, Jennifer Huculak got approval from her doctor and insurance, just in case something would happen.

While in Hawaii, her water broke and her daughter was born nine weeks early and spent two months in the hospital.

The family is now stuck with a nearly $1 million medical bill.

“It makes you sick to your stomach. Who can pay a million-dollar medical bill? Who can afford that?” says Huculak.

Blue Cross is claiming she had a pre-existing condition and is refusing to give the Huculak family their insurance money.  

The family is now deciding if they should fight Blue Cross or to declare bankruptcy.
