SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Canadian wildfire smoke once again returns to Michiana.
Last summer was remembered by the drought and also the smoke. It was incredibly smoky last summer, and the smoke frequently reached the ground and impacted air quality.
Well, the smoke is back, but will it be as bad as last summer?
Short answer is no.
However, smoke in the upper atmosphere can still mix down to the surface and cause a smoky smell.
More smoke will move in Thursday night and linger over the weekend. It will be a frequent haze in the sky over the coming days.
Expect vibrant sunsets with lots of red and orange scenery. Smoke also makes it possible to see the actual sun, but do not stare directly at it.
For now, air quality looks to stay okay. However, if you are susceptible to poor air quality, be sure to take it easy over the coming days as smoke moves through the region.
