Capital Avenue bridge to close for one week beginning Dec. 10

ST.JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – The Capital Avenue bridge over the St. Joseph will be closed beginning Monday, Dec. 10 for one week.

According to the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), S.R. 331(Capital Avenue) will be closed to allow road crews to implement new beams as part of a two-year reconstruction project.

Drivers traveling north on S.R. 331 will be detoured east on S.R. 933 (Lincolnway East) west of McKinley Highway and rerouted back onto S.R. 331.

Drivers southbound on S.R. 331 will be detoured east of McKinley Highway just south of Bittersweet Road and west onto S.R. 933 back onto S.R. 331.

The work is due in part fo Gov. Eric Holcomb's Next Level Roads iniative to improve the conditions of bridges and roads in the state.
