Car chase leads to fatal crash in Niles

Niles, Mich. --A fatal car crash in Niles woke up quite a few people Sunday morning.

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. on Yankee Street just off of U.S. 12.

State Police were chasing a vehicle driven by a young girl when the vehicle all of a sudden lost control and headed straight into a tree.

The vehicle than flipped and hit a few power lines.

Right now police still have not released the name of the girl because relatives have not been notified.

"The pursuing vehicle was about 100 yards behind. There was never any contact between the two vehicles and for an unknown reason it just ran off the road," said Sgt. Mike Dawson.
