A fire in South Bend leaves building ablaze
ROYALTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Three people are dead after a police pursuit in Berrien County ended in a crash Saturday morning.
The crash occurred at M-139 near Rockey Weed Road in Royalton Township around 5:11 a.m. Five local and state agencies responded to the call.
Berrien County Sheriff's Department says someone broke into a gun store, took several fire arms and drove off.
A neighbor of the gun store called police and told them a Gold SUV just left the gun store and was headed toward Red Arrow Highway.
Shortly thereafter Berrien County deputies noticed a car matching the description and tried to pull the car over. The vehicle attempted to flee police and sped off onto I-94. While trying to exit, the driver lost control and crashed into a tree.
Four people were in the car at the time. Three of them were pronounced dead at the scene.
The individual that survived the crash is in critical condition. Michigan State Police are investigating.
Police will not reveal the names of the victims or the surviving suspect until the families has been notified.
