Car hits utility pole in Mishawaka

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- A utility pole was damaged when a car struck it early Monday morning.
It happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 3500 block of Grape Road, right in front of the J.D. Byrider car dealership in Mishawaka.
Officers believe the car was travelling south on Grape Road when the driver lost control and ran into the pole, damaging some of the dealership's cars at the same time.
The driver was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.
Mishawaka Police closed Grape Road between Catalpa and Edison until just before 5 a.m. because the damaged pole was considered a danger to other drivers.
