SAN DIEGO — Officials say that a 70-year-old man lost control of his car and ended up suspended from a staircase.

Police say the man was trying to get a parking voucher from a medical facility when the car apparently rolled forward. The driver became disoriented and hit the accelerator.

He then drove through the gate of the parking lot, over a curb, through a metal guardrail and into the building.

That left the car hanging over some steps.

The driver had to wait while rescue crews figured out a way to get him safely out of the car. The driver was not hurt.
