NOW: Car meet in Granger leads to discovery of two people stabbed

GRANGER, Ind. -- Saturday night around 10:30 P.M. officers received a call about large groups of loud vehicles in the Gospel City Church parking lot.

Upon arrival, officials found out that a stabbing incident, including two victims, had occurred.

The two victims took themselves to the hospital and were not on scene by the time officials arrived.

Car meets and drag racing has become a common event in parts of Granger, according to Dan Schaetzle, President of The Saint Joe County Council.

"We're not used to things like that we don't have shootings or stabbings in Granger it just doesn't happen. So, it's unusual. We often, however, have drag racing and that is something people talk about a lot. We have a problem with drag racing on 23 through Granger, Captial avenue and over on Hickory and other locations," stated Schaetzle. “Sheriff's department does an outstanding job, but I think our citizens would like to see more of that, I think we'd like to see a more coordinated effort to stop the drag racing.”

The stabbing is an ongoing investigation, so if you have any information, please submit a tip either online or by calling Saint Joseph County’s Detective Bureau at (574) 235-9569 or by contacting the Michiana Crime Stoppers.
