Car sales rise in August

Car sales jumped in August in what is shaping up to be one of the best months in years.

Sales at General Motors were up more than 10 percent from a year ago.

Ford Motor Company posted a more than 12 percent increase.

Chrysler Group reported sales increased more than 14 percent improvement over last year.

Japanese rival Toyota enjoyed a 40 percent sales jump from 2011.

All four sales figures easily beat forecasts from Trackers Edmunds and True Car.
