Driver extricated from car after striking side of delivery truck
Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office ALMENA TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A 31-year-old Kalamazoo man had to be extricated from his vehicle Friday morning after colliding with the side of a delivery truck on M-43.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies responded to M-43 near Walden Way around 5 a.m. for a reported two-vehicle crash.
Authorities' preliminary investigation determined a Ford Fusion driven by a 31-year-old Kalamazoo man, was traveling east on M-43 before crossing the center line and crashing into the side of a delivery truck traveling west.
Both vehicles became disabled, causing M-43 to temporarily close in both directions.
The driver in the Fusion had to be extricated by the Paw Paw Fire Department and was subsequently taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The delivery truck driver was uninjured.
Authorities don't believe alcohol to be a contributing factor in the crash.
The crash investigation remains ongoing.
