Career Academy South Bend Robotics Team heads to robotics competition in Texas
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Career Academy South Bend Robotics Team won multiple awards at the FIRST Indiana State Championships in early April in Lafayette, qualifying for the FIRST Championships in Houston, Texas.
Career Academy South Bend, authorized by Education One at Trine University, developed a FIRST Robotics program in 2015, starting with a small team.
The team now has six mentors and 37 students and every year since the team was established, students have attended the Indiana State Championship.
Academy officials say since it was created, 5484 Team Wolf Pack has competed internationally through FIRST competitions and continues to break barriers with its achievements.
Officials say 2024 has been the team's most successful year yet.
5484 Team Wolf Pack became the only team in history to win both the FIRST Impact Award and the Woodie Flowers Finalist Award at the FIRST Indiana State Championships.
Now Team Wolf Pack will compete in the FIRST Championship from April 17 to 20 in Houston.
Last year the championship had 974 teams representing 59 countries with over 46,000 attendees.
