Cass County Sheriff asking for help naming newest K-9

CASS COUNTY, Mich.—The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is asking for a little help naming its newest recruit.

The sheriff’s office on Wednesday announced the arrival of its new K-9 bloodhound.

The new puppy joins 7-year-old K-9 Nellie and Deputy Graves to be trained and certified in man-trailing for lost, missing and endangered persons.

The 8-week-old, eight pound female puppy is in need of a name and the sheriff wants residents to help pick it.

Name choices are as follows:

1. BRITTON - (In memory of Cass County’s only line of duty death Deputy Shane Britton EOW 7/19/2000)
2. SHAY - (short for Shane)
3. RYCE - (In memory of Jimmy Ryce 11/26/85-11/11/95, and his family that donated the pup)
