CASSOPOLIS, Mich. -- Officials with Cassopolis Public Schools released a letter to parents and community members on Thursday stating the remainder of the Varsity Football season at Cassopolis Ross Beatty High School has been canceled, citing recent circumstances, including numerous injuries.
Officials say they took careful consideration and the decision was difficult, but after discussions with coaches and school administrators, it became clear continuing the season would pose unnecessary risks to the athletes.
School officials invite the community to a special evening, Friday at 7 p.m., as they honor senior band members, senior football players, and senior cheerleaders for their dedication, hard work, and school spirit throughout the years.
There will be no charge for admission.
The night will be a celebration of the contributions of seniors with their families, friends, and the community.
The evening will also include the final on-field performance of the band's award-winning show "Scurvy Dogs on Parade."
