CDC warns about untreatable super-bug

ATLANTA — Health officials from the CDC have issued a warning a potential super-bug that is showing up at more hospitals.

The CDC reports that the dangerous super-bug is extremely resistant to antibiotics.

It can cause potentially fatal pneumonia, urinary tract and blood stream infections.

Doctors said it could have been prevented because it is caused by an overuse of antibiotics.

The CDC reports half of all antibiotics prescribed nationally are either unnecessary or inappropriate.
