Charges have been filed against the shooting suspect that allegedly led law enforcement on a chase from Elkhart County to Cass County, Michigan, according to the Elkhart Police Department.

At 9:03 p.m. Monday night, officers were called to the 1800 block of Filbert Way for a shooting report.

The victim said a known suspect fired several shots at her apartment's sliding glass door and she and another man were inside, reports said.

The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Aaron Whitman of Elkhart, was taken to the Cass County Jail, reports said.

He's been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, criminal recklessness and resisting law enforcement.
