Chicago Cubs announce 2023 South Bend Cubs field staff

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Fans will see new and familiar faces at Four Winds Field this year; on Friday, the Chicago Cubs announced field staff members for the 2023 South Bend Cubs season.

Returning to this year's team is manager Lance Rymel, who begins his second season as manager of the South Bend Cubs when the season officially kicks off in April.

Also returning to Four Winds Field are hitting coach Dan Puente and bench coach D'Angelo Jiménez. The coaches have been in the Cubs organization for four and six seasons, respectively.

New to this year's staff is Clayton Mortensen, who replaces Tony Cougoule as pitching coach for the Cubs. 2023 marks Mortensen's first season in South Bend but third in the Cubs organization. He spent the last two years with the organization in Myrtle Beach.

Athletic trainer Nick Roberts will spend the 2023 season in South Bend. Roberts was formerly the trainer for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in 2022 and held the same position for the Rookie League ACL Cubs in 2021.

Finally, Kelcey Mosley joins the 2023 South Bend Cubs staff as the team's strength and conditioning coach. Mosley spent the 2022 season with the team's Performance Center in Mesa.

The South Bend Cubs start the 2023 season on the road against Quad Cities from April 7 through 9. The team returns to South Bend for the April 11 home opener at Four Winds Field.
