Chicago man gives own kidney to girlfriend on Valentine's Day

CHICAGO, Ill. -- On Valentine’s Day, many women got flowers and candy, but a Chicago man gave his girlfriend a gift he hopes will help save her life, a new kidney.

A man spent Valentine’s Day in the hospital with his lupus-stricken girlfriend. She needed a kidney but none of her family members were a match. So her boyfriend insisted on getting tested. He was literally her perfect match.

The couple will spend the next two weeks in Tennessee recovering and getting checkups.

After this, she said he never has to give her another Valentine’s Day gift.
