Chihuahua gets tiny bionic paw

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The smallest prosthetic in the U.S. is about to go to a deserving chihuahua named Peggy.

Peggy was born without a back foot and now she has been officially accepted into a prestigious research program to develop a mini-size prosthetic for her.

The prosthetic is about the size of a human finger.

"Into the future this can transfer into human beings getting really sensitive feelings in their fingers which of course will help our veterans," said Mary Jewell, Enchantment Chihuahua Rescue.

Mold's of Peggy's leg have been sent overseas and her bionic paw will be made in Germany and France.

She will receive it at the beginning of next year.
