Child taken by CPS, items found to make meth

BUCHANAN, Mich. - Deputies from the Berrien County Sheriff's Office went to 877 Able Road Friday to arrest Wendy Weathers on a valid misdemeanor warrant.

While the officers were outside Weathers' home they noticed evidence of meth production.

The narcotics unit was called in to assist in the investigation. Later in the afternoon a search warrant was produced to the home.

At the time of the search warrant officers located Wendy Weathers, her 15-month-old child and a 37-year-old woman inside.

During the search officers found and seized several components and ingredients used to make meth. They also located and took $430.00.

The 15-month-old child was taken into protective custody.

The 37-year-old, who was not identified, was released with no criminal charges.

Weathers was lodged at the Berrien County jail on two charges, operating/maintaining a meth lab and valid misdemeanor warrant fro contempt of court.
