Christmas lights up Michiana community

There are still a few things you can do in your community to celebrate the holidays.

The big hit Sunday was Santa Claus in downtown South Bend.

Santa stopped there for a short time before heading back to the North Pole to get ready for Monday night. Families from all across Michiana came to see him and ask for some last minute gifts.

It wasn't just Santa hanging out in downtown South Bend but several other families as well. They are using this big tree at the College Football Hall of Fame for a photo opportunity. People everywhere have flocked to South Bend to check out the Christmas decorations.

There's also a lot of fun for the kids including a chance to meet Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer and a gingerbread house competition.

There's quite a few holiday light displays for you and the family to check out in Michiana. One of them is the Jessie Family Christmas Display off of Redbud Trail in Buchanan. The family has put up lights around their house for 30 years but said, this will be the display's last year.

If Buchanan is too far, the Winding Brook Park Light Display is happening until the day after Christmas. It's a whole neighborhood of lights.

Displays range from a surfing Santa, to someone displaying their love of Notre Dame football. A small donation is encouraged.
