NOW: Church Community Services providing financial relief to Elkhart County

ELKHART, Ind.-- Church Community Services in Elkhart wants to help you in your time of need.

The group is offering emergency assistance for rent, utilities and prescriptions for families in Elkhart County.

In order for families to receive this emergency assistance, Church Community Services will ask very specific questions to determine basic eligibility because there are specific income guidelines.

A person can get upwards of $200 dollars, but if they qualify can get up to three months of assistance with one or possibly even two bills.

These funds can be used to help with rent, utilities, prescriptions, child care, and more.

Vonda Horst, the Director of Financial Services at Church Community Services tells me the first step families should take to get help is to simply call.

“Just having people reach out. There is help available. This is so new for everyone. We’re trying to figure out what we’re doing, how we can help. We do have limits. The service providers are trying to figure out what those limits are. Just reach out and we’ll try to help out in any way we can," said Horst.

Available funds are limited so families are enouraged to apply sooner than later.

Horst says within the next week, the City of Elkhart is providing another $150,000 dollars to help Elkhart City residents only.

If you'd like to apply or donate to the cause, call Church Community Services at (574) 295-3673.
