Cierre Wood thinking of making jump to NFL

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- The Chicago Tribune is reporting that Fighting Irish running back Cierre Wood is thinking about entering the 2013 NFL draft.

But Wood's mom said that he has not made up his mind yet about skipping his senior year.

Wood started the season with a two-game suspension for violating team rules. But since then, Wood has come back with a vengeance.

His teammates say he is definitely a valuable player.

"Absolutely. He's a shifty guy, but he's one of the fatest guys on the team and you know, when he puts his foot in the ground and goes north to south, he's a hard guy to catch," said Irish center Braxton Cave.

Wood is currently averaging 7.1 yards per carry this season.

He is also ranked seventh for the most career rushing yards in Notre Dame history.
