Cities compete in third annual Red Kettle Ring-Off

Every holiday season, the Salvation Army is out in full force collecting donations for the people in their communities.

For the third year, Mishawaka and South Bend are competing in the Red Kettle Ring-Off.

Mishawaka Fire Chief Dale Freeman and South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg kicked off the competition.

Mishawaka is undefeated in this competition which aims to support both cities and families in St. Joseph County by raising money through red kettle donations.

The Salvation Army helps nearly 30 million Americans each year.

With no national fundraising, the Salvation Army relies on events like the Red Kettle Ring-Off to support its local communities.
