City Clerk, Mayor Mueller respond to cancelled Common Council meeting
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - City Clerk Dawn Jones and South Bend Mayor James Mueller responded to the South Bend Common Council's decision to cancel Monday's meeting due to a procedural error.
Dawn Jones is holding a press conference at 4 p.m. to address Council President Sharon McBride's decision to cancel the meeting.
In a statement, Jones said the meeting notice was released enough in advance to inform the public about it, at least 48 hours in advance.
Jones also said the Office of the City Clerk posted a notice of all 2023 Regular Council Meetings on December 13, 2022.
Mayor James Mueller released the following statement:
“There was important business for our city on tonight’s agenda, and I’m disappointed that an embarrassing procedural error prevents the Common Council from moving forward today,” said Mayor James Mueller. “I am working with Council leadership to reschedule this meeting as soon as possible to take action on the many important agenda items.”
