City, homeowners to meet over flooding issues

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — South Bend city officials will meet with homeowners to discuss groundwater problems near a former ethanol plant on Wednesday.

Homeowners have been battling flooding since the New Energy ethanol plant shut down in November.

They said the plant's closure forced the water table to rise. And that led to flooded yards and basements.

Common Councilman Oliver Davis is set to host the meeting.

The meeting will be at Rum Village Nature Center at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
