City of Elkhart celebrates Arbor Day with tree planting and movie night

ELKHART, Ind. - The City of Elkhart will be celebrating Arbor Day with a tree planting ceremony and a free viewing of “The Lorax” at the Elkhart Environmental Center on Saturday, May 1. 

The reading of a proclamation and tree planting will begin at 8:15 p.m., followed by the movie at 8:30 p.m.

Free popcorn and drinks will be provided but guests can bring their own. No alcohol is allowed.

Guests are also encouraged to bring lawn chairs or a plastic tarp and blankets to sit on, as the grass tends to be wet in the area.

This event is hosted by the City of Elkhart, the Elkhart Environmental Center, and the Elkhart Parks & Recreation Department.

The Environmental Center is located at 1717 E. Lusher Ave. in Elkhart.
