City of Elkhart's brush pick up starts Monday

On April 6th, spring cleaning begins in the city of Elkhart. Mayor Dick Moore has outlined specific guidelines to follow.

The City of Elkhart's Forestry Division will start their weekly brush pick up services on Monday morning. Only brush from residential properties will be collected. Services will be on the same day as your trash and recycling collection.

In order for equipment to easily pick up the brush, the city requests you place piles on the ground, away from trees and power lines. The city also asks that you not include other items like trash, grass, leaves, fence posts, or concrete in the brush pile.

If you are taking advantage of this service there are a few numbers to remember, “1-4-4-8”.

One brush pile should be neatly stacked next to the road. The pile should be no longer than four feet tall, four feet wide, and eight feet long.

Pick up can start as early as 6:00 a.m. on trash pickup day. For more information contact the City Forester.
