City of Mishawaka announces leaf pick-up week and opening of Organic Center

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- The City of Mishawaka has announced a one week leaf pick-up program.

The street department will be picking up leaves from Monday, April 22 to Friday, April 26.

Leaves will be picked up the day before the resident’s regular trash pick-up day.

Leaves should be put on the edge of the curb and should be free of branches, twigs, stones, or other small objects that could possibly damage pick-up equipment.

The City of Mishawaka also wants to remind citizens of the opening of the Organic Center.

The center is located at 1105 E. 5th St. in Mishawaka and will open starting on Saturday, April 13.

The Organic Center will accept brush, leaves, grass, and any outdoor organic waste.

They will also be accepting hazardous household waste like paint, cleaners, oils, gasoline and electronics.

Mishawaka citizens are encouraged to use the city’s Curbside Recycling Program for items like bottles, cans, newspapers and cardboard.
