City of South Bend makes changes to trash pickup service
SOUTH BEND, Ind.— The City of South Bend’s Division of Solid Waste announced Friday that it is making changes to the trash and yard waste pickup service due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Solid Waste is temporarily suspending extra pickups of yard waste paper bags. Additional yard waste pins can be requested on the city's website or by calling 311. Yard waste season begins April 1 and the cost is $2 per month, per bin.
The City’s organic resources facility will close to the public. Residents can still pick up mulch and compost free of charge at the 24-hour self-loading area.
All trash must be bagged and the lid of the trash bin must be closed completely to ensure that bins will be picked up and emptied.
No bags will be picked up outside or on top of the trash bin.
Residents can request a second trash bin for an additional fee on the city's website or by calling 311.
