SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The City of South Bend wants to make local businesses feel more secure through a new grant program that will help fund security measures.
Mayor James Mueller announced the city's new "Business Security Grant Program", which offers free security assessments and up to $5,000 for surveillance cameras and other security upgrades.
The owner of Franky's Tacos on East Mishawaka Avenue loves the idea.
“The safety of our customers is the most important thing, our employees, and the well-being of the community,” said owner Francisco Macias. “We like to be a part of this community a lot and we want this neighborhood to improve, to be safe, so people can walk here at night.”
Businesses have until September 29 to apply for the program.
